Hamilton Beach Eclectrics 50111 All-Metal 500-Watt Countertop Blender, Sugar Top Quality
I got this blender two weeks ago and have been using it to make milkshakes. It works very well, but sometimes you need to blend twice to make sure all the fruit lumps have moved around and been blended. Upsides: it's stylish, matches my toaster, and the whole thing feels good quality. The jug is made of nice heavy glass and the blender is sturdy. It's also not too noisy. Downsides: it's expensive. I bought it as a visual treat for myself, so if you just need something that does the job, you might be better off with something cheaper. If you need something super-fancy that makes bar quality margaritas, pls read some of the other reviews...Re seller: this blender is actually available in several colors from various different vendors for vastly different prices, i.e. this is not the only entry in the Amazon catalog. I recommend doing a specific search on the blender, and seeing what comes up. Also, I recommend getting the one shipped by Amazon/Target. Some of the other reviews weren't very happy with the other sellers and I read most of them. So this is something to keep in mind. Viking Range Stainless/Gray Stand Mixer 5 Qt. This instant
In my serach for a mixer that would make homemade marshmallows, I narrowed it down between the Viking and the Kitchen Aid. The Viking mixer was fairly new at the time but the reviews were great. The long standing Kitchen reviews had gone from good to terrible. From what I read, Kitchen Aid replaced some of its metal machine/motor parts with plastic parts and the mixers were breaking inside. For the same price the Viking is built better and is industrial strength. I can make multiple batches of marshmallows back-to-back without any strain on my Viking mixer's motor. It actually makes the marshmallows in half the time as my mom's Kitchen Aid, which is half the time the recipe calls for. I am very pleased with my purchase and would tell all my friends and family to get a Viking if they were looking to purchase a mixer. I am even looking to purchase their brand in other kitchen appliances. As a baker, you cannot go wrong with this one!Get more detail about Viking Range Stainless/Gray Stand Mixer 5 Qt..

Sunbeam 2346 Stand Mixer, Heritage 4.5 Qt. Best Quality
This is my first stand mixer and mostly I like it. However, I mainly purchased it to knead bread. As soon as the dough is mixed and becomes heavier, the bowl jiggles back and forth and rattles. The metal turn table can be wiggled back and forth a little even when not on. Anyone have this problem? Is this "normal?"Get more detail about Sunbeam 2346 Stand Mixer, Heritage 4.5 Qt..

Bosch MUZ 4 GM3 Grain Mill with Steel Grinder Cone Order Now
I've had this for a couple days now and have gone through a few cups of grain. This mill does the job for a budget price. My wife and I wanted to start making bread, but we didn't have the money to drop on the Bosch Universal with the Nutrimill (All said, around $750ish). So combined with the Bosch Compact Mixer and the grain mill (~$250), you can start making your own bread with a much smaller cost of entry. We have made around 10 loaves with the ground hard red spring wheat flour we've made from this, and it is delicious.
Now the down side, this mill is slow. I just timed it to see how long it would take to grind 3 cups of HARD RED SPRING WHEAT on its finest setting. It took almost 40 minutes exactly, and produced a fraction shy of 5 cups of flour (probably closer 4 3/4 Cups). That means that it takes 8 MINUTES TO PRODUCE ONE CUP OF USABLE FLOUR. That's a long time, especially when you consider that it's also very loud - about as loud as a typical vacuum cleaner. If you set it to be coarser it is noticeably faster, but then the flour isn't great for bread. It works very fast if you are only looking to crack the wheat to make a cracked wheat cereal, or corn meal.
Also, it doesn't produce very fine flour. I wanted my flour about the finest this machine could produce, so I set it just a tick below where the dots stop and there is a solid line (meaning the finest it will go without actually grinding steel on steel) and the flour is still pretty coarse. The one batch we made with the flour ground SOLELY from the mill didn't rise very well because of how coarse the flour was. I've adjusted our recipe to make the bread with about 50% ground flour, and 50% finely milled store-bought flour, and it will rise to the normal size. Anything less than that and it won't rise as well.
One last thing, we had 1 unit break (sounded like the internal gears stripped out) withint 10 seconds of using my first unit, and the replacement unit broke instantly. The 3rd unit is the one we've been using. It's been fine for now. I'll update this review if I run into problems. However, Dave at Kitchen Resources was excellent about replacing it.
Overall, I still like it because homemade bread is better than anything in the store, and it's much healthier for you and cheaper to make. The coarse flour from this is a great way to add a bunch of tasty fiber to your diet without the compromises (also better for your blood sugar). So long story short, if you plan on making more than 2 loaves of bread per week, you'll want to upgrade to a faster process. Anything less than that and you'll do fine.
** EDIT 9/19/09 ** The only working unit I had broke within a day or so of writing my original review, and the replacement broke within minutes. I took apart all the units to see what was wrong, and the first point of torque is made with a cheap nylon plastic gear that is very easily broken. I can't recommend this product anymore. If you get a working one, 3 stars, otherwise I give this product one star for low craftsmanship. Such a disappointment considering all the quality Bosch products I have had over the years. Sunbeam #2372 6 Speed Hand/Stand Mixer Decide Now
I had this mixer for years and it worked great on everything but I tried a no knead bread recipe last week and it burned the motor out. My fault, should have known better. Only problem I ever had was difficulty in getting the beaters back in the mixer at times. I really like the deep glass bowl and will keep for use with next mixer. KitchenAid Classic Plus White Stand Mixer Right now
I bought this mixer because Cook's Illustrated recommended it. I can see, after 3 months, that CI was spot-on. It is a substantial-sized kitchen tool, and I've used it at least once a week since getting it. Primarily I bought this for bread mixing, and it clomps along even on the firmest dough (though it does "hop" a bit on firm doughs). The powerful engine can handle anything I throw at it. It also does a fabulous job on whipped cream -- far better-textured than a hand-mixer could make. I've used it to make cakes and cream-cheese dips, frostings and herb butters, and there just doesn't seem to be much this mixer can't do to perfection. It's not a food processor, so don't expect it to chop and dice or to cut butter into biscuit dough, but it fulfills its function perfectly. It's heavy-duty and substantial, and so easy to hand-wash I haven't bothered putting its components through the dishwasher. 100% recommend.Get more detail about KitchenAid Classic Plus White Stand Mixer.

Lowest Price KitchenAid Limited Edition Pro 620 Stand Mixer KP26M8XMC
Got this mixer over 2 years ago and it sounded terrible from day 1 - a loud whine that my other Kitchenaid mixers never had - but it seemed to function all right, yet never seemed to have as much power as I thought it should. The more I used it the less power it seemed to have, especially kneading bread dough. It would get very hot and could not fully knead even soft doughs, then finally stopped altogether. Repairs would cost over $200 so I'm looking for a replacement. Additionally the bowl did not rise far enough in the upper position to allow the paddle or whisk to fully incorporate ingredients at the bottom of the bowl- it was necessary to lift the bowl manually to accomplish this, a little risky at high speeds.Since I already have several attachments I'll look at another Kitchenaid mixer, but am hoping their quality control has improved.Get more detail about KitchenAid Limited Edition Pro 620 Stand Mixer KP26M8XMC.
Low Price KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter
We purchased this mixer last year before Thanksgiving. We got a wonderful deal on it, and decided to purchase it although I'm not a professional in the kitchen! I've ended up using it more that I could have imagined! We did have the mixer start making a knocking noise once, and contacted Kitchenaid. Even when we could get the noise again, the service representative quickly stated that is not acceptable and shipped out a replacement. It was by far the BEST service I have ever received! I am extremely happy with the product and the company's service.Get more detail about KitchenAid KP26M1XDP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Dark Pewter.

Save Sunbeam 2349-030 Heritage Series 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Red
The first time I use my Heritage Edition stand mixer I was making a cake after 7 minutes beating the butter with sugar its started to smoke I thought this was normal since it was new, then after 7 more minutes it got very hot and the bowl stoped turning, I had to use my hand mixer to finish my cake after baking it, it was ruined how sad. Its been a year now that I have the Sunbeam stand mixer & its still getting very hot. The sad thing is that I make cakes for a living and after one batter the machine still gets hot and the bowl stops turning. I have to wait for it to cool down to start with another cake, I should off gotten a kitchen aid.. Get more detail about Sunbeam 2349-030 Heritage Series 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Red.

Cheap Sunbeam 2364 Heritage Series 350-Watt Stand Mixer, Red
Well..I read the previous reviews and thought the mixer couldn't be all that bad. I paid attention to those who had bought the "plastic" mixers and how they weren't stable so I bought the die cast metal. The price was right,it had all the features and size bowl I wanted, and it looks so nice so i thought I'd try it. Well....I used it twice and sadly to say, it's going back to the store.
The first time I made a batch of oatmeal cookies. Creaming the ingredients was fine, but as soon as I got the flour and oatmeal in the mix, the mixer and bowl started rocking and jerking as the mix hit the beaters. Decided I can't turn away from that for a second! The second time was a coffee cake batter, smooth & creamy and no rocking this time, but the bowl wouldn't spin to mix the batter. Plus then I started to get the overheated motor smell.
Not sure what I'll get now cause I really don't want to spend $200+ on a mixer, but this one wasn't it.Get more detail about Sunbeam 2364 Heritage Series 350-Watt Stand Mixer, Red.

Shop For Hamilton Beach 63220 Eclectrics All-Metal 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Sterling
I purchased this machine cause at the time I could not afford a Kitchen Aid. This machine is ideal for mixing frosting made with vegetable shortening as this can become stiff and put strain on your regular mixer motor (I can testify I lost two hand mixers). The other attachments has proven to be useful as well, I used the dough hook to make fondant and was satisfied with the results. I appreciate the fact the mixer is quiet and I mean quiet it does not disturb anyone while I work, clean up is easy as well. The thing that dissapointed me with this product is that it does not have any further attachments,eg. pasta machine etc. But overall I would recommend this product.Get more detail about Hamilton Beach 63220 Eclectrics All-Metal 12-Speed Stand Mixer, Sterling.
Hamilton Beach 65110 Eclectrics All-Metal Retro Drink Mixer, Sterling
When it comes to kitchen appliances, buy the best you can afford, or at least the best for the money. This mixer is all metal, has quality fit and finish, but most importantly, has a quiet two speed motor that will handle most of your mixing needs.
I replaced a very cheap, all plastic, very noisy machine that the wife got at the dollar store or something. It was so bad I hated to even use it. This machine is a pleasure to use. I recommend it to anyone who wants to mix protein shakes or malted milks.Get more detail about Hamilton Beach 65110 Eclectrics All-Metal Retro Drink Mixer, Sterling.

Kalorik 200-Watt 5-Speed Stand Mixer, White Review
This is a nice mixer for the price. I am not comparing it to my KitchenAid stand mixer of course. But to a comparably priced hand mixer (which this one can be used as also) this has many advantages - most importantly that you don't have to hold it. The bowl is a bit small, and it is a bit underpowered with just 200 watts, but for non-serious cooks, college kids and such, it's handy, well made and a good brand. Great for cake mixes, egg whites and muffins. For what it is, and the price you pay, it is definitely 5 stars. Get more detail about Kalorik 200-Watt 5-Speed Stand Mixer, White.
Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer Top Quality
It was all I could afford and I really needed a mixer with a little more muscle. If you can get something better, do! The beaters don't reach the bottom of the bowl and there's no way to adjust this like there is on the better made stand mixers. I was trying to make cookie icing in it and had to resort to using it as a hand mixer because it wasn't reaching any of the mixture in the bowl. Perhaps if they'd used a stainless steel bowl they'd have designed the beaters to go all the way down?
Two positive things about this product:
The bowl is really nice. Heavy, glass, SOLID. I may get rid of the stand because it seems to serve no purpose but I'll keep the bowl forever--and the mixer until I wear it out, of course. That is if I don't box the whole thing up and take it back to the store.
The whisk that comes with the mixer is even shorter than the beaters and is extremely flimsy. Unless you are whipping quite a bit of cream you won't be able to use this as a stand mixer and even then you'll have to stir and scrape the bowl constantly.
When off its stand, the mixer itself rests very well on its back end, reminds me of an iron. That's nice because I don't get the counter messy with the dirty beaters when I need to set the mixer down.Get more detail about Hamilton Beach 64695 Power Deluxe Hand/Stand Mixer.
KitchenAid KSM152PSNK Custom Metallic Series 5-Quart Mixer, Brushed Nickel This instant
Recently reviewed the purchase of this mixer in white that I bought for my daughter. I purchased this one for my wife, it is our second one. The first I bought for her 29 years ago. I bought it in white back then. The first one has been used regularly because my wife is a very good cook. We kept waiting for the old one to die, well with KitchenAid, that never happens. So after 32 years of marriage I bought her the Brushed Nickel KSM152PSNK. If you do not have a KitchenAid mixer and you like to cook, you need one. Spend the money and buy one. I know we will get at least 32 years of service from our new one.Get more detail about KitchenAid KSM152PSNK Custom Metallic Series 5-Quart Mixer, Brushed Nickel.

Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixers Immediately
I purchased this one for my daughter a few years ago and also purchased a different model for myself about 5 years ago. No worries about the reconditioned models. They are identical to brand new. Not even a scratch on either one. My daughter says she prefers this model which has the tilting head and I prefer my model whose head is stationary and the bowl rises and lowers to the beaters. Just a matter of personal preference. This model has pretty good power for mixing almost anything you could want, but, if you do a lot of heavy mixing such as weighty bread doughs, etc. I would suggest a little beefier model with suped up horse power.Get more detail about Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixers.

Lowest Price KitchenAid KHM5APWH 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer, White
Excellent hand mixer! At first, I was torn between getting the 5-speed, 7-speed, or the 9-speed. I was afraid that the 5-speed would not be as powerful as the latter two. However, I ended up going with the 5-speed as a trial and because it was much cheaper! Needless to say, the 5-speed has done the job! I hardly ever go up to the top 2 speeds anyway and my baking and cooking has become much faster and more efficient with this hand mixer! There are 3 different types of attachments: the regular whisk-like ones as pictured, a cork-screw looking attachment for mixing thicker ingredients such as dough, and a stick attachment for smoothies. All attachments work great and are very easy to clean. I would highly recommend this item! The Kitchenaid brand is reliable and it compliments other Kitchenaid items in my kitchen!Get more detail about KitchenAid KHM5APWH 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer, White.
Low Price West Bend 41135 12-Speed Stand Mixer with 2 Mixing Bowls, White
I love this mixer and i got it on a gold box deal last month so it was affordable. (This review is based on 1 month usage. If things go wrong, i will surely update my review accordingly)
Pros:
1) It has 2 bowls. This is a great feature, cause u do not have to hurry up and clean up the bowl after one use and then use it for something else. For example, when i make cakes-some cakes need 2 bowls, one for the egg whites to be whisked and the other for egg yolks to be mixed with sugar. Other example: one cake is used for the cake mixture and the other one for the icing. in this case i do not have to wash the previous bowl and i let it sit in the dishwasher for it to be washed later. As it has 2 bowls of such different sizes you are free to use any bowl according to the size of the preparation.
2) The mixer comes apart and you can store it in any kitchen cabinet easily. When it comes apart there are 2 smaller pieces of the mixer which need lesser space and height for storage. This is awesome, cause it works for people with less space too.
3) Handling and Cleaning the bowls is so easy because they are not plastic or glass- they are made of steel..yaaay!! i love this feature too.
Cons:
1) The bowl does not move on its own many a times. I am guessing, it must be something to do with the functioning. Maybe some speeds have it and some do not! Well, i do not know but i am guessing here. The instructions say nothing about it! So I have to monitor it and move the bowl manually by continuously giving it light pushes.
2) The bigger bowl is very wide and short- unlike kitchen aid stand mixer, which seems narrower and taller. Because of this feature, we do need to continuously scrape out and feed the contents to the beaters/dough hooks otherwise they keep working in the same dough and leave the dry dough at the sides and other side of the bowl cause as i said before the bowl does not move many a times and it is very wide so it has a other side where dry ingredients can keep accumulating and not get mixed at all without manual help!
Lastly, when i received the mixer, i got one beater with a plastic piece at the tip, which i thought was for not letting the steel surface come in contact with the bowl steel surface. But the other beater had no such plastic piece. I thought i received a wrong piece, but i saw the picture of the beaters on the box, they came in and the picture clearly showed a beater with the plastic piece and the other one without it. I am mentioning this so that no other people would have doubts like i had.
Overall, its a great mixer and i hope it works for a long long time!

What a great piece of machinery! I had an older model (about 35 years older) and wanted a new bright red one for my kitchen decor. It works as well as the older one and I love the wider bowl. It makes adding ingredients much easier. The speed control on the new one allows finer adjustment than the old one did and it seems to be a little more powerful, not that it needed to be.

Cheap KitchenAid KSM158GBCA 90th Anniversary Limited-Edition 5-Quart Stand Mixer, Candy Apple Red
Yes, I just called a kitchenaid appliance sexy! Pictures do not do this beautiful workhorse justice! The candy apple color is simply stunning! If you are in the market for an Artisan 325 watt kitchenaid mixer, this is THE one to have. The 90th Anniversary edition is available for a limited time this year. I absolutely love the glass mixing bowl. Very sturdy and looks like it is made of a pyrex material. The color drew me in, but the glass bowl sold me! Love the measurement marks on the side, so convienient. Not to mention that you can finally see if your ingredients are all mixed up now. But I will also probably buy a metal bowl to go with this as well. Although completely unneccesary. The whisk, paddle, and dough hook are a coated metal, not the standard white coated ones that came with my KA classic. It is important to know that these new attachmants are hand wash only. DO NOT put these in the dishwasher, the coating will come off and become discolored. Although they look very nice, I would have prefered a metal that could be put in the dishwasher, that is my ONLY complaint with this machine, and it's trivial. If this is an issue for you, then buy the white coated ones, as all attachments are universal.
I will add a picture of my new KA so you will see how this shines! Hope you get one too before they are all gone for good!
Edit- I also wanted to write a quick note for those that had a question about the pour shield compatibility with the glass mixer bowl. It will not work on this bowl because the bowl has a pour spout. This was not an issue for me, but just wanted to be informative. Also, if you lust for the glass mixing bowl, sometime next year KA is going to sell it as an extra for the tilt head models only.
